SDJ Strengthens Emergency Response Capabilities through Water Rescue Simulation at Jetty 2

Safety in jetty areas is determined not only by the availability of adequate facilities but also by personnel readiness to respond to emergency situations. As part of its efforts to strengthen safety culture and enhance emergency response capabilities, PT Swarnadwipa Dermaga Jaya (SDJ) conducted a Water Rescue Simulation at Jetty 2, within the Muara Lematang operational area, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) Regency, South Sumatra, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

The simulation was based on a scenario involving a worker falling into the water. The activity began with a briefing, the delivery of safety instructions, and task assignments. This was followed by practical exercises covering emergency reporting, victim rescue using a boat and flotation devices, and evacuation to shore for initial treatment by the First Aid (P3K) team.

Prioritizing Safety in Every Action

During the training session, personnel were introduced to the R-T-R-G rescue principles, with an emphasis on using boats and rescue equipment before considering entering the water. Every rescue effort must prioritize the safety of both the victim and the rescuer, while adhering to the directions of the Incident Commander and established procedures.

Collaboration Determines Success

Emergency response requires coordination across all functions. This involves witnesses reporting the incident, dispatchers communicating the information, the Incident Commander managing the response, the Water Rescue Team carrying out the rescue, and First Aiders providing initial treatment. Security personnel also play an important role in securing the evacuation area and ensuring clear access for ambulances.

Through this simulation, SDJ also evaluated response time, communication effectiveness, equipment readiness, and inter-team coordination as a basis for further improving emergency preparedness.

Safety Is a Shared Commitment

Through the Water Rescue Simulation, SDJ reaffirmed that preparedness is not merely about having rescue equipment available, but also about understanding procedures, mastering assigned responsibilities, and being able to respond appropriately and in a coordinated manner.

A commitment to safety must be reflected in every operational activity through consistent training, discipline, and mutual care among employees.

KNOW THE RISKS. UNDERSTAND YOUR ROLE. ACT IN COORDINATION.

Ensure that every worker returns home safely.
