South Sumatra, Indonesia — In Indonesia's coal industry, the name Victor B. Tanuadji is widely recognized. As the Commissioner of PT Titan Infra Sejahtera (Titan Group), he plays a central role in transforming coal logistics and infrastructure in South Sumatra. Under his leadership, Titan Group has not only become the backbone of regional coal transportation but is also committed to reducing environmental impact through innovative infrastructure solutions. Besides being active within the company, Victor is known for encouraging community participation through events such as Titan Run, which has become a symbol of post-pandemic recovery.

Victor B. Tanuadji’s Profile

Victor B. Tanuadji is one of the key figures behind Titan Group’s success. In addition to serving as Commissioner of PT Titan Infra Sejahtera, he also holds the position of President Director at two subsidiary companies: PT Servo Lintas Raya (SLR) and PT Swarnadwipa Dermaga Jaya (SDJ). These two companies serve as the main pillars of Titan Group’s operations. SLR manages a 118-km coal transportation road network, while SDJ is responsible for port facilities that serve as gateways for coal exports.

Victor’s leadership extends beyond corporate boardrooms. He actively participates in public events organized by Titan Group, such as Titan Run 2024, a running event aimed at strengthening community relations. In his speech at the event, Victor stated, “We are delighted to bring back Titan Run after a hiatus due to the pandemic. Next year, we hope the event will be even bigger, with more participants.”

Titan Group: The Infrastructure Bridge for South Sumatra’s Coal Industry

PT Titan Infra Sejahtera was established in 2017 with a mission to bridge the infrastructure gap in South Sumatra’s coal sector. The region holds abundant coal reserves, but inadequate transportation infrastructure has long been a major challenge. Through dedicated coal roads and port facilities, Titan Group has successfully created an efficient logistics ecosystem, reducing dependence on public roads and minimizing environmental impact.

Key Infrastructure of Titan Group

Dedicated Coal Road (118 km)

Managed by PT Servo Lintas Raya, this 118-km road connects mining areas in Lahat, Muara Enim, and Pali Regency to the port. Designed specifically to handle heavy coal trucks, this road reduces damage to public roads and alleviates traffic congestion.

Port Facilities (62 Hectares)

PT Swarnadwipa Dermaga Jaya manages a 62-hectare port capable of handling large-scale coal exports. The facility is equipped with modern loading technology to ensure efficiency and speed.

Stockpile Facilities

Titan Group operates two stockpiles:

  • Stockpile 107: Capacity of 800,000 tons, equipped with a coal crusher capable of processing 23,000 tons per day.
  • Stockpile 36: Capacity of 800,000 tons, with a crusher capacity of 30,000 tons per day.
  • Operational Performance: From 14 Million Tons to 21.5 Million Tons

Since becoming fully operational in 2017, PT Titan Infra Sejahtera has shown consistent growth. In 2022, the company transported 14 million tons (Mt) of coal. This figure increased to 18.8 Mt in 2023 and is projected to reach at least 21.5 Mt in 2024. This growth reflects market confidence in Titan Group’s services and the company’s ability to expand its infrastructure capacity.

Victor B. Tanuadji stated that this growth is driven by global demand for coal as an energy source, despite the world’s gradual transition to renewable energy. “South Sumatra has high-quality coal reserves that are still in demand. We ensure that deliveries are efficient and environmentally responsible,” he said.

Strategic Partnerships with Third-Party Mines

In addition to serving internal needs, Titan Group has built long-term partnerships with local mine owners. The company offers integrated logistics services for mines that lack adequate infrastructure access. The Muara Enim and Lahat regions, known for their rich coal reserves, are the primary focus of these partnerships.

“We are not just building infrastructure but also trust. Our partners know that their coal will reach the port on time and at competitive costs,” Victor added.

Titan Run 2024: Strengthening Community Bonds

Beyond business, Victor B. Tanuadji understands the importance of fostering harmonious relationships with local communities. The Titan Run 2024 event, held after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, is a testament to this commitment. This event not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also serves as a platform to showcase Titan Group’s contributions to regional development.

Victor hopes that in the future, events like Titan Run will attract even more participants. “This year, we had to limit the number of participants due to facility constraints. Next year, we will scale up the event,” he said.

Economic and Environmental Impact

Titan Group’s presence has had a significant impact on South Sumatra:

  • Economic Impact: Creating job opportunities for thousands of local workers, both in construction and operational sectors.
  • Environmental Impact: Reducing air pollution and damage to public roads by shifting coal transportation to dedicated roads.
  • Export Growth: Enhancing Indonesia’s coal export capacity through modern port facilities.

However, the company has not been free from criticism. Several environmental NGOs have raised concerns about the long-term risks associated with coal mining activities. In response, Victor emphasized that Titan Group adheres to all environmental regulations and continues to innovate to minimize its carbon footprint.

The Future of Titan Group: Expansion and Innovation

Victor B. Tanuadji stated that Titan Group will continue expanding in response to market demand. The company’s long-term plans include:

  • Constructing additional roads to expand logistics reach.
  • Increasing port capacity to accommodate more vessels.
  • Implementing automation technology in coal processing.

“We aim to set an example of how the coal industry can operate sustainably,” he concluded.

Victor B. Tanuadji is not just a businessman but a visionary who understands the complexities of the coal industry and the needs of the community. Under his leadership, Titan Group has successfully balanced business growth, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability. With continuously developing infrastructure and a commitment to innovation, Titan Group is poised to maintain its position as a key player in Indonesia’s coal logistics industry.
