The dream of the people of Muara Enim Regency to be free from coal transportation traffic on public roads is getting closer to reality. Tuesday, May 20, 2025, marked an important milestone when the Regent of Muara Enim, H. Edison, S.H., M.Hum., together with the Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru, and industry players including PT Titan Infra Sejahtera and its subsidiaries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accelerate the development of a dedicated coal haul road.
The signing took place in the Pangripta Nusantara Meeting Room at Bappeda Muara Enim, signifying a major collaboration between the central government, regional government, and the private sector.
In his remarks, Governor Herman Deru emphasized the importance of maintaining a shared commitment. He invited all parties, including the Lahat Regency Government, who were also present, to ensure the timely implementation of the agreement.
“The acceleration of coal haul road development is a concrete step towards realizing a South Sumatra, particularly Muara Enim, free from the negative impacts of coal transportation on public roads,” said the Governor.
This effort also includes the construction of overpasses to ease congestion at railway crossings, which have long been one of the main sources of traffic jams.
In its implementation, the construction of the dedicated haul road will be divided into two main corridors:
The target for road completion is within 9 months, indicating that this strategic infrastructure project will be fast-tracked to deliver tangible benefits to the community as soon as possible.
The Regent of Muara Enim, H. Edison, who was present along with the Vice Regent, Ir. Sumarni, M.Si., expressed deep appreciation to all involved partners.
“We extend our gratitude to the Governor of South Sumatra and all companies, including the Titan Infra Sejahtera Group, for their synergy in realizing the dedicated coal haul road. This is a major step toward the safety and comfort of our residents,” Edison stated.
He also added that this project becomes even more crucial considering the repair of the Enim II Bridge by BBJPN South Sumatra, which previously served as the main route for coal transportation through the city.
As part of a comprehensive effort, an MoU was also signed for the construction of four overpasses:
These overpasses are expected to provide a long-term solution to traffic congestion caused by railway crossings, which have long hampered traffic flow in Muara Enim Regency.
Through its direct involvement in the construction of dedicated roads and overpasses, PT Titan Infra Sejahtera demonstrates its strategic role as a partner in regional development.
Therefore, support for this project aligns with the company’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that not only supports industrial operations but also enhances the quality of life for communities in the mining region.
