PT. Swarnadwipa Dermaga Jaya (SDJ), a part of the Titan Infra Sejahtera business group, is once again holding the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Month. This event, which will take place from January 12 to February 12, 2025, is not just a routine agenda, but also a strategic moment to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, including employees, contractors, vendors, and work partners throughout Titan's operational areas. As a company committed to sustainability, Titan Infra Sejahtera views OSH not merely as a regulatory obligation, but as a long-term investment in creating a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for all parties.
Carrying the theme "Strengthening Human Resource Capacity in Supporting the Implementation of the OSH Management System (SMK3) to Increase Productivity," this year's National OSH Month emphasizes enhancing worker competence as the key to the successful implementation of SMK3. Titan Infra Sejahtera believes that a trained and highly safety-conscious human resource (HR) not only reduces the risk of work accidents but also drives operational efficiency. "When workers feel safe and protected, their motivation and productivity will naturally increase. This aligns with our vision to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem," said a Titan management representative in an official release.
In the Inspector of Ceremony's speech, represented by Muhammad Salim Wantapao, it was emphasized that the strong implementation of OSH norms is the foundation for worker welfare and business continuity. "A safe work environment is not just about complying with procedures but also building a culture where every individual feels responsible for protecting each other," he said. This message aligns with Titan Infra Sejahtera's philosophy, which places safety as a core value in every company operation.
Although OSH Month has become an annual agenda, Titan Infra Sejahtera asserts that 2025 is a critical moment to evaluate and adjust OSH strategies to current dynamics. Changes in government policies, technological developments, and increasingly competitive market demands require companies to continue innovating. "We don't want this activity to be merely ceremonial. This is an opportunity to reflect on achievements, identify gaps, and design progressive steps," added Salim.
One of the concrete initiatives presented is digital-based training to enhance worker understanding of SMK3. Through a dedicated e-learning platform, employees can access materials related to emergency procedures, heavy equipment handling, and fire risk mitigation. This approach is considered effective given Titan's wide and diverse work location distribution.
As part of the 2025 National OSH Month series, PT. SDJ, in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency (PALI), organized a blood donation event on January 13, 2025, at the SDJ Office. This event not only aimed to support national blood stocks but also to educate workers about the importance of maintaining personal health as part of OSH awareness.
Blood donation, commemorated every June 14 as World Blood Donor Day, symbolizes Titan Infra Sejahtera's social concern for the surrounding community. "This is a real manifestation of synergy between the business world and humanitarian institutions. In addition to saving other people's lives, blood donation also provides health benefits for participants, such as early detection of potential diseases," explained Dr. Chindy Tri Andini, a representative of PMI PALI Regency.
Participant enthusiasm was evident from the number of registrants that exceeded expectations. A total of 150 blood bags were collected, which will be distributed to hospitals and health centers in the PALI region. "We thank PMI and all parties involved. This activity proves that the spirit of mutual cooperation is still our DNA," said the HR Manager of PT. SDJ.
For Titan Infra Sejahtera, occupational safety and health are not additional costs but a strategic investment. Consistent implementation of SMK3 has contributed to a 30% reduction in work accident rates in the last three years. This achievement is inseparable from management's commitment to allocating special budgets for training, safety equipment maintenance, and worker protection innovation research.
"We believe that every incident can be prevented through a mature system and competent HR. Therefore, we continue to encourage active participation from all parties in reporting potential hazards, no matter how small," emphasized a representative from Titan's HSE Division. This proactive approach is supported by a digital reporting application that makes it easy for workers to provide input in real-time.
The success of 2025 OSH Month is not only measured by a series of events but also by the extent to which OSH values are embedded in the work culture. To that end, Titan Infra Sejahtera echoes the concept of "Safety Ownership," where every individual feels a collective responsibility to create a safe work environment. This campaign is reinforced through inter-division safety innovation competitions, which encourage workers to create creative solutions related to OSH.
In addition, the company also holds discussion forums between management, contractors, and labor unions to align OSH policies with field needs. "This open dialogue helps us understand the obstacles faced by work partners and find joint solutions," said Salim.
Quoting the statement of Sir Brian Appleton, an industrial safety expert from England, Titan Infra Sejahtera reminds that "Safety is not an intellectual exercise to keep us at work. It's a matter of life and death. Our contribution to safety management determines whether our colleagues will return home safely or not." This statement serves as a reminder that safety is a fundamental right of workers that cannot be compromised.
In closing, Titan Infra Sejahtera hopes that the momentum of 2025 OSH Month can be a starting point for the transformation of safety culture at the national level. By strengthening HR capacity, the company is optimistic that it can contribute to increasing industrial productivity while reducing work accident rates in Indonesia. "We invite all stakeholders to make OSH a lifestyle, not just a rule. Together, we can create a more prosperous Indonesia," concluded Titan management.
Through concrete steps and multidimensional collaboration, Titan Infra Sejahtera proves that commitment to OSH not only supports business sustainability but also builds a positive legacy for society and the nation.
